J.B. Branch

J.B. Branch is the Director of Federal AI Governance and Technology Policy at Public Citizen. He leads the organization's work on AI governance, data privacy, consumer protection, platform accountability, and child online safety. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and an affiliate at Harvard University's Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. His writing has been published in The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, Yale Journal on Regulation, Lawfare, The Globe and Mail, amongst others. His work has been featured by TechCrunch, NBC News, Politico, Wired, NPR, Le Monde, and Reuters and other national and international media outlets. He has advised the White House, members of Congress, foreign governments, and state policymakers. He helped develop Louisiana's automated expungement system and advised the U.S. Department of Justice on surveillance technology and civil rights. He holds degrees from Pennsylvania State University, Georgetown University Law Center, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
