Hannah Lipstein

Hannah Lipstein is a research associate at the Distributed AI Research Institute (DAIR). Prior to joining DAIR, she was part of the Climate, Technology, and Justice program at Data & Society, where she studied environmental impacts of the AI supply chain and advanced strategies of resistance. Her previous work includes professional advocacy for interpersonal violence prevention as well as place-based environmental education on sailing ships. With 15 years of activist and professional experience in social movements, Hannah is most interested in how communities fight back against exploitative technologies, the growth economy, and the war machine. She holds an MA in Media, Technology, and Democracy from American University and a BA in women’s and gender studies from Wellesley College.
